Renowned Superstar Thalapathy Vijay is entering into politics. He has launched a political party in Tamil Nadu named Tamilaga Vetri Kazham (TVK) on 2nd February. However, Vijay has said that his party would not contest Lok Sabha Elections 2024 but he will contest the 2026 Assembly Polls. This decision was made during the General and Executive Council Meeting of the newly formed political group.

Tamil Actor Thalapathy Vijay who is one of the most celebrated actors in the South, announced his Political Party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam Party on 2nd of February. In a statement Vijay said, “It is my long-term intention and desire to help the people of Tamil Nadu and the Tamil community, who gave me name, fame, and everything after my parents. Accordingly, a political party led by us has been started under the name ‘Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’.
The statement further said,”2026 is our goal. After getting altricial from ECI and after 2024 Lok Sabha elections we will be deciding upon the symbol, flag, ideologies, policies, meet and greet with people and the proper beginning of our political jour way will begin. We are not contesting in the 2024 elections and we will not be supporting any of the party that is contesting,”
Thalapathy Vijay who is known for his work like ‘Bigil’, ‘Theri’, ‘Master’, ‘Mersal’, ‘Thuppakki’, ‘Kaththi’ and ‘Varisu’ and was last seen in action entertainer ‘Leo’.
Speaking on his films he added, “On my behalf, I have already agreed to complete another film related duties without disturbing the party work and fully engage in politics for the service of the people. I consider that as my debt of gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu.”

Vijay’s entry into Tamil Nadu Politics will mark another high profile entry from cinema after the likes of Kamal Hassan, Sivaji Ganesan, etc.
On the work front Vijay is currently shooting for Director Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Greatest Of All Time’. He will do one more movie after ‘ Greatest Of All Time’ which will be his 69th movie after which he will quit acting.
